Wrapping the 2023 NASCAR Season in Phoenix
Nearly every weekend since the first weekend in February (save for one), our Production team has been on the ground at NASCAR tracks around the United States, crisscrossing the country on a weekly basis to produce the opening ceremonies for 87 of 95 races across the sport’s three racing series. The season-ending finale took place in Phoenix, Arizona, and 60 team members from Production’s Charlotte office were deployed to the West Coast for pre-race responsibilities, experiential activations, and much more.
For race fans, the weekend likely began at the NASCAR Experience, an experiential activation celebrating the 75thanniversary of NASCAR, which appeared on more than 20 track midways this season. Inside the larger-than-life space, race fans experienced a wide variety of entertainment throughout the year, including live podcasts, driver interviews, interactive games, car reveals and more. Elsewhere on the Phoenix midway, Production’s work for Campbell Marketing and their client, Ford Performance, was on full display with an additional experiential activation, that appeared more than 10 times throughout the season.
Inside the track at Phoenix Raceway, for the 85th, 86th, and 87th time this year, Production managed the pre-race driver introductions, which took place on a custom-designed and built stage that was originally ideated in 2022 with a sharpie drawing on a sheet of looseleaf notebook paper. Grammy-award winner Diplo performed a pre-race concert that was produced by Production’s tech team, and the race began with a flyover of four F-35 fighter jets.
With the 2023 season officially in the books, talks are already well underway for Production surrounding the 2024 NASCAR Season, which begins the first week of February at the Los Angeles Coliseum.
