Rocking The Roval
NASCAR returned to Charlotte for the second time this season, and from the midway to inside the Charlotte Motor Speedway, our Production team had involvement at every turn. (And because it was the “Roval” race, combining the Speedway’s road course with the majority of its oval-shaped track, there were a lot of turns – 17 to be exact.)
Outside on the midway, Production was responsible for the staging and production of the “Rock the Roval” concert series, which saw former Poison front man Bret Michaels take the stage on Friday Night, and rock group Three Doors Down on Saturday. On Sunday, the concert stage was repurposed for Trackside Live, which is produced by the Production team on a weekly basis. Production also worked alongside Octagon to construct a massive activation space for race title sponsor Bank of America, and built another activation for Ford Performance, a staple of multiple NASCAR midways this season.
Inside the track, Grammy-award winning hip hop artist Nelly took the CSMP-built pre-race stage for a concert before assisting Production with announcing driver introductions. The Roval race was eventually won by Christopher Bell, who is currently 2nd the NASCAR Cup Series Playoff points race. Production will conclude the NASCAR season this weekend at Phoenix Raceway, home to the NASCAR Playoffs finale.
