Golfing 4 Good 2014

October 24, 2014

On Tuesday, Oct. 14, JHE employees, partners and vendors joined together to support the fourth annual Golfing 4 Good tournament at Cabarrus Country Club.

Eighteen teams participated in the day’s shotgun-style tournament. Team Deuce of Hazards(DSS) Jeremy Dixon, Joel Stone, Chris Epperly and Jason Wells, took home the win and were awarded tickets to an upcoming show of their choice, courtesy of the Fillmore Charlotte and four $100 gift cards to Dicks Sporting Goods, courtesy of Penske . Team Sprint, Chad Willis, Rob McKinney, Troy Yarborough and Madison Martin, won second place and received Govino wine glasses and a $50 gift card, courtesy of Classic Party Rentals, in addition to four Charlotte Motor Speedway-branded apparel items.

Patrick Rogers won the Putting Contest presented by DSS, taking home a Sonicare toothbrush, courtesy of Dr. Stacey Lesley. Closet to the Pin presented by the Charlotte Checkers on hole no. 12 was awarded to Paul Clark who took home a Charlotte Checkers prize pack and putter. The Longest Drive presented by the Charlotte Hornets on hole no. 18 was won by Rob McKinney who received a $200 gift card to the new Bobcats Team store. Hole no. 15 hosted the Bert Challenge; Jay Howard had four chances to put his shot closer to the pin than each team for a $20 donation.

But the day’s real winner was the charitable cause supported by the annual tournament, the Lymphedema Advocacy Group. Created by JHE employee Brian Ferguson’s wife, Heather, after one of their twin sons, Dylan, was born with lymphedema, the nonprofit all-volunteer group fights for insurance coverage for medically necessary supplies for patients nationwide. The tournament raised more than $30,000 for the organization which will use the funds to educate and raise awareness about this incurable yet treatable disease.

The Golfing 4 Good tournament started in 2011 when the JHE family rallied around one of its own in need. Since then, the annual tournament has raised more than $120,000 for four different beneficiaries close to the company’s heart. JHE funds the tournament 100 percent so all funds can be donated to the selected charitable cause.

Thank you to our partners, vendors and employees who made this day possible!
