Giving for Good: Wings of Eagles Ranch

March 28, 2014

Recently, 19 JHE employees gathered for the third year at Wings of Eagles Ranch to help with maintenance as part of its “Giving for Good” program. The ranch which is located on 88 acres in Cabarrus County specializes in therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults with learning challenges. The process allows riders to increase their levels of concentration, patience and discipline while overcoming fear and developing trust.

Julie Alascio led the day’s efforts for the charity which she fell in love with many years ago when she volunteered there with her daughters. “It’s amazing to see just how much of an impact even one person can have on the ranch,” she said. The ranch struggles with exposure and relies solely on the efforts of volunteers to run it. Alascio’s hope is that JHE’s partnership with Wings of Eagles Ranch will continue to make an impact and help to spread the charity’s message.

Despite the weather, JHE made a dent in the ranch’s to-do list, including building a pathway at the entrance, a façade for the future camp registration area, benches for the climbing tower and zip line, and beginning the process of creating seating in the amphitheater.

The director at Wings of Eagles Ranch, Chris Cronin, looks forward to JHE’s visit every year and described the JHE team as “a lifesaver.”
