Giving for Good: Homeroom Hope Drive

August 29, 2014

During the month of August, Jacqueline Gafrarar led a school supply drive to benefit Cabarrus County children in need. This year’s drive was donated to Connect Christian Church’s Homeroom Hope event which assists families and teachers in Cabarrus County who find children and students without school supplies.

Accepting donations from businesses around the county, the church donated 750 backpacks filled with school supplies to the first children to pre-register. In addition, each registered child received a haircut, a new or gently-used outfit and medical screenings as well as a bag of groceries for their family.

The church also set up a teacher resource room for teachers in Cabarrus and Kannapolis City schools to help alleviate some of the school startup expenses for teachers.

“It’s great to see our company come together to support such a great cause,” said Gafrarar. “This program will help to alleviate a lot of financial strain on families in need as they send their children back to school.”
