Giving for Good: CVAN

June 27, 2014

For the second year in a row, a group of 20 employees helped repair shelter houses in the Cabarrus Victims Assistance Network (CVAN). The team assisted with repairs to a porch, yard work, cleaned inside, pulled up carpet and removed old paint during the full day of giving back.

“Words cannot describe how great the JHE team is,” said Rebecca Moffitt, assistant director at CVAN. “They rock and roll. They work with such joy and are so self-efficient, dependable and passionate. Their skill level is amazing. When they offered to volunteer again this year, we felt like we had hit the jackpot again!”

Since 1982, CVAN has been the place and voice for battered women and children. The nonprofit organization provides safety, shelter and support while actively working to end domestic violence in the community. The service offering includes a 24-hour hotline, shelters, peer advocacy/counseling, a walk-in center, children’s programs, court advocacy, support groups, teen programs, formerly battered women’s advocacy, transitional housing support services and community education.

“As a Cabarrus County resident, it is wonderful to see our entire team come together to support such an important local cause,” said a JHE employee.
