Let’s take a look at our newest positive force of nature with 10 Questions….
1. What’s the worst day of your career?
I try to take any negative experiences and turn them into learning opportunities. I would say a day that was not very enjoyable was when I had to work a fan appreciation party in Cleveland during the Big Ten Championship. It was the game where Ohio State beat Wisconsin 59-0 and as a diehard Badger fan this was a little rough with 400 Ohio State fans. Of course, I had my beat Ohio State button on and everyone made sure I was aware of the score.
2. If you could be an animal in the world, what animal would you be?
I think I would be a giraffe, so I could finally be the tall one in the group and who doesn’t love giraffes.
3. If you could take one physical item with you on a deserted island what would it be?
A swiss army knife, one with all of the little tools. I am not an outdoor person, so I would need all the help I can get if I was stuck on an island. Bonus, I would have a corkscrew to get coconut water.
4. What is your favorite family tradition?
My favorite family tradition is probably Christmas Eve. We always have a prime rib dinner and then work on a puzzle before we head to the midnight service, and there’s probably a Hallmark movie in the background. A close second is going fishing with the family the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
5. What tricks do you have for juggling the many tasks you have been given in your role at CSM?
I try to set a game plan for myself each week and then each day. I make a list of what needs to get completed each week for a big picture and then prioritize by day what needs to get accomplished. Obviously, things are going to pop up but having a plan makes each day productive and gives the sense of accomplishment.
6. What is the most important personal attribute you bring to your job?
I would say positive attitude and willingness to try anything. I try to bring a positive outlook to everything and I’m always willing to help out and lend a hand when needed.
7. If you had one free hour each day how would you use it?
If I had a free hour each day I would go visit kids that are going through treatment for cancer. I would just go do different activities with them, talk to them, and try to take their mind off what’s going on and bring a smile to their face. I was diagnosed with lymphoma when I was 13 and had so many people in my corner when I was going through treatment. So now I try and pay it forward to kids that are battling now.
8. What is the greatest piece of advice a parent or mentor has given you?
One day I asked my doctor if I could return back to cheerleading and he responded I don’t know can you, if you have the capability then go for it. He told me as long as you have the strength and it makes you happy then why not. Let’s just say I taught him a lot about cheerleading the next several years. I’ve taken this conversation and carried it on with me, applying it to different things/decisions in my life. Live with no regrets.
9. What is one word you would use to describe your team?
10. What question should we ask the next person who does 10 questions?
What movie title best describes your life?
